Little Assets dons their trackies!

Little Assets Childcare Centre in Melbourne CBD are BIG supporters of Tracky Dack Day, and their (oh so cute) kids got right into the spirit of helping those less fortunate.

As they ran around the playground as if it were the Hume Freeway, they stopped for just long enough for me to ask a few questions.

“Do you know what Tracky Dack Day is for?” I asked.

“Kids!” one of the outspoken ones harps back.

“That’s right! And why are we helping the kids?”

“Becauth they have the doctoth and – the – nurseth and they feel sick…”

“That’s right, and trackies make them feel a bit better don’t they!”

And in a whisker they all started again at warp speed around the playground singing TRACKIES repeatedly at the top of their little lungs!

Ahh kids, they make us laugh don’t they!!!

2 year old Maximus has a very rare and undiagnosed illness that causes significant weight gain.Photo Max and brother

As a result, Max no longer fits into children’s nappies, and the only ones he fits into are specialised adult pullups, and the expense amounts to $50 every couple of days! This is a lot for the family to afford on top of his medical expenses.

Max’s nurses called on TLC for kids to provide a stock of the special pull ups to help with the financial pressure. Max’s mum sent us this lovely message:

“Dear Deb and TLC for kids team,

We were so thrilled to receive the nappies and lovely toys which lit up our home with joy and laughter. It’s an ongoing struggle having a sick child in the family, when a knock at the door can give relief and reminds us people do care and do what they can, this means more than words can say. Thank you so, so much.
We’ve attached a pic of Maximus with his brother Jacob.
Warmest wishes,
Yael, Edan, Jacob and Maximus  XO”

Purpose 2 Pedal

Purpose2Pedal TLC for kidsNational Tracky Dack Day attracts fundraising events of all shapes and sizes, but one very determined group of cyclists has taken theirs to a new level.

On 25 April, 2013 team ‘Purpose 2 Pedal’ will take off over the gruelling Adelaide hills in an event which will take place over 4 days to help raise funds for national children’s charity TLC for kids.

The team of cyclists from TOLL wants to help these amazing kids and their families in their greatest time of need. Their driving force is their belief that sick kids need and deserve the support of all Australians.

As team leader, Daniel McDonald says, “Kids are our future and without the opportunity to overcome the challenges they have in these difficult times, their carefree and positive approach to life is shattered, let’s team up to ensure we reduce their anguish, we can join together and make this less overwhelming and a time in their lives they can get through. We may even help put a smile on their faces.”

Of the 1.8M kids admitted to hospital annually, TLC for kids currently reach more than 615,000, or roughly 34%. TLC for kids’ mission is to raise enough funding to reach 100% of these children.

Purpose 2 Pedal’s goal is to raise $11,250 from this ride.

TLC for kids is thankful to all cyclists taking part in the challenge!
